Did you know that digestion actually starts before we even eat any kind of meal? When we see, smell or even think about food, our gut starts releasing hormones and starts processes to get our body ready for food! How cool is that???
The gut also contains the microbiome - balance of bacteria to help the breakdown of nutrients, producing hormones and enzymes for further reactions. A strong microbiome is KEY to a strong immune system and overall health.
I want to share with you some classic signs of POOR GUT HEALTH:
* LOW ENERGY
* IRREGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENTS
* FEELING FULL OR BLOATED
* CONSTANTLY HUNGRY OR FULL
* SICK OFTEN
* UNBALANCED HORMONES
* ACNE, DRY SKIN, ECZEMA
* VITAMIN & MINERAL DEFICIENCIES (LOW IRON, LOW VITAMIN D)
Additionally, let's talk about ways you can IMPROVE your gut health!
1. Increase your fiber intake: Fruits, veggies and whole grains
2. Increase hydration (MORE WATER)
3. Take a walk after you eat a meal
4. Be sure to chew your foods thoroughly
5. Eat slower
6. Gut supplements (Opti-Greens 50, Digestive Enzymes, Probiotics, Multi-Fiber)
Opti-Greens 50 - Greens superfood blend which contains digestive enzymes and a probiotic. I USE THIS EACH AND EVERY DAY!
Digestive Enzymes - Helps break down your food! For those of you with higher calories and struggling to feel like you are digesting well. (This is already in Opti-Greens 50!)
Probiotic - Helps with the absorption of nutrients and balancing your microbiome. For those who are not taking in foods with natural probiotic or fermented foods. (Also comes in the Opti-Greens 50!)
Multi-Fiber - If you are looking at your food log and only getting in HALF of your daily fiber, you can either add in more fruits & veggies OR Multi-Fiber!
**Adding in a bunch of "high fiber" wraps or foods usually includes artificial fiber that makes you bloated and are very processed with little benefit to your gut.
**Fiber feeds your gut bacteria
**Adequate fiber is shown to reduce colon cancer more than any other factor!!
If you follow me on IG or FB, you will see me posting my nighttime routine daily which is my Opti-Greens, Fiber and Magnesium. I personally must work hard to get that fiber met each day and this is something that is so common among most of us. I know it may seem like a "taboo" topic because (poop), but honestly, a good digestive system, will make a difference in your overall results!
